Candlelight vigil to be held in honor of jailing of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
AMERICUS, GA - A candlelight vigil will be held at the Americus-Sumter County Courthouse Friday December 16 at 7 p.m., in honor of the 50th Anniversary jailing Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., in Sumter County Jail.
The Americus High School Color Guard will represent their colors and a wreath will be placed at the original jail site.
The Americus-Sumter County NAACP president, Rev. Mathis K. Wright, Jr. will do the occasion.
