Raybon named SGTC Student of Excellence for March | Community Spirit

South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Accounting student Amber Raybon of Americus was named Student of Excellence for the month of March during the college’s student recognition ceremony held in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus recently.
Raybon received a plaque of recognition and a financial award from SGTC for her accomplishments. She was nominated for this honor by SGTC Accounting instructor Brenda Boone.
“Amber is punctual, dependable, productive, and has a passion for learning,” said Boone. “And on top of that, she has made the President’s List every term, is a member of National Technical Honor Society and Phi Beta Lambda, and is a wife and mother.
“I have had a wonderful experience as a student at South Georgia Tech,” said Raybon. “Being a member of the National Technical Honor Society and Phi Beta Lambda has opened doors to some tremendous opportunities for me.”
Each month, students from certain divisions selected for that month are nominated for the Student of Excellence award by their instructors.This month’s ceremony recognized students in business and computer programs at SGTC.
The winner is selected based on grades, work ethic, participation in clubs and organizations, and amount of program completion.
Each nominee is presented with a certificate and a South Georgia Technical College Student of Excellence T-shirt.
Other students nominated for the month of March included: Jeanette Evans of Cuthbert, Business Administrative Technology; William Miller of DeSoto, Computer Information Systems; Sara Bedsole of Americus, Marketing Management; and Warren Bruce of Americus, Recreation and Leisure Management.
Nominating instructors were Brenda Boone, Accounting; Annita Barron, Business Administrative Technology; Andrea Ingram, Computer Information Systems; Mary Cross, Marketing Management; and Steven Wright, Recreation and Leisure Management.
