AMERICUS, GA- An 18 year old Desoto man was killed after authorities believe he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The crash happened this past weekend as severe weather began rolling into southwest Georgia.
The Georgia State Patrol says 18 year old Jose Alfonso Gonzalez was traveling south on Brady Road when his vehicle drifted onto the west shoulder, lost control and spun for more than 100 feet before slamming into a tree. Gonzales was killed.
His passengers 21 year old Jose Joel Gonzalez, 18 year old Carlos Duque, and a 13 and 14 year old girl were all asleep when the crash happened. They were treated at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
